This homemade spice mix will easily liven up Homemade Potato Chips, Oven Fries or Deep Fried French Fries, and will make you a hit at any party or dinner table.

This seasoning goes great on burgers, steamed or pan fried veggies, chicken, fish and even popcorn!

Making your own spice mixes is a great way to ensure your spices are fresh, as well as allowing you to fully control the quality.

If you grow your own herbs, or like to buy fresh high quality herbs, then it’s nice to make a bit of it into dried mixes. They’re convenient yet still of the highest quality.

Experiment with some of your favorite spices to make it your own family recipe.

Garlic, basil, parsley and celery are easy to get fresh produce, and can be dehydrated or dried yourself at home. This adds more flavor than just using them dried from the store. The bit of extra effort pays off big time with superior flavor.

Use all organic ingredients, and ensure any dried spices are labeled certified gluten free.

French Fry Seasoning

This super versatile mix is great to use on Homemade French Fries, Oven Fries, Homemade Potato Chips, hamburgers, roasts, chicken and even on fresh popcorn.

Ingredients:

1/8 to 1/4 cup Sea salt
2 tablespoons Paprika
1 tablespoon Fresh dehydrated garlic
1/2 tablespoon Cumin
1/2 tablespoon Black pepper
1/2 tablespoon Dried basil
1/2 tablespoon Dried parsley
1 teaspoon Chili powder
1/2 teaspoon Fresh dehydrated celery

Directions:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a jar.
  • Seal and shake until all the spices are well combined.

Sprinkle on your food, and enjoy! You can serve this seasoning on Homemade Potato Chips, Oven Fries or Deep Fried French Fries.

Notes:

  • You can make fresh dehydrated vegetables and herbs either in a food dehydrator or in a low oven (about 250 degrees F). Chop or mince the vegetables very fine. Place on a rack of your dehydrator and dry, or on a cookie sheet in the oven. If using the oven, check every 5 minutes, and stir them up, and bake until dry. When drying garlic in the oven, the aroma can be extremely strong. Be sure to open some windows and turn on the oven fan.
  • If you will be using your spice mix up within a couple days, then it's not critical that it be completely bone dry. I'd suggest that you make this, and use it up within a few days. Homemade spice mixes are not designed to be stored long term, as it is chemical additives, or the complete extraction of the oils that would allow this kind of store bought mix to keep for a long time. If you do want to keep it a bit longer, you can also store it in the freezer in an air tight container. This will prevent moisture and insects from getting into your home dried herbs and spoiling them.
